While planning this painting the nine artist of Canvas by Canvas were
remembering all the years of fruit basket gifts at Christmastime from neighbors
and friends. After some research they discovered that Comice pears are
perhaps the most delicious of all. They grow in great abundance in the state of
Oregon, where this picture originated, and are available to us all year long - if not
in the grocery store, then through gift catalogs.
For this acrylic on canvas painting each of the nine artists painted a different
square. Each gallery-wrapped canvas measures 10" x 10" and is 1 1/2" deep.
The nine panels are framed together in a custom-made wood frame, but also
could look quite lovely grouped on the wall without a frame.
